Want to achieve a neat tidy house in just minutes a day Our speed cleaning routine checklist will show you exactly how its done, so that you can spend less time. There are lots of reasons a clean house is important to me, but the biggest is probably simply that my brain works better when my house is clean. Over the years Ive had lots of people ask how I keep things tidy most of the time. Soat the risk of having you all think I am completely crazyI thought today Id share my little speed cleaning routine. I probably spend, on average, about 4. This means I spend about 5 7 hours a week cleaning. That is still a significant amount of time Our simple Speed Cleaning Checklist will help you get more done in less time. The trick is staying on top of it. I am a list kind of girl, so I actually have a daily checklist that I use each day. It is located on my control center wall where I have a dry erase monthly calendar and where there is also a spot for a weekly meal plan and important phone numbers. Since it is all in one place, I can easily check the calendar for any pressing activities or appointments. This helps me prioritize my cleaning activities and to cut things out or add things as necessary. My Control Center I dont use a wide variety of cleaning supplies, and I have never been that picky about brands. I used to use a lot of commercial products, including the disposable wipes, but I have slowly transitioned to using mainly these homemade green thrifty cleaning products. They are cheaper, they smell better, and require me to keep far fewer bottles of stuff lying around The two commercial items I do use frequently are my Swiffer Wet Jet and my Swiffer dusters. What a great invention It makes mopping so much faster easier. Here is my system General Guidelines Start at one end of the house. I start in our Master Bedroom and work my way through the living room and kitchen to the girls room and bathroom. Cleaning is much easier when everything has a home. Work on creating organized storage for all of the things that end up being scattered around the house, like papers, mail, shoes, toys. Use a large laundry basket to collect items such as toys or clothing that need to be returned to a different room. If you have multiple offenders, use multiple baskets. After you have finished tidying every room, take 5 minutes to put away the collected items. Save sweepingmopping and vacuuming until the end, then do it all at once. We have mostly hard surface floors, so I use an industrial dry mop to wipe the floors each day. It takes only a couple minutes to run it over all the floors and then shake it off outside. About once a week, I do a really thorough sweep and then use a Swiffer Wet. Jet to mop.  I vacuum the rugs about 3 times a week. Likewise, save the glass cleaning for the end as well. Once the house is completely clean, I will grab my windex and rag and run around doing spot checks on the glass doors and windows. I wipe the bathroom mirrors as well as the fixtures and sink. Keep daily shower cleaner in the bathshower and spray down after each use. Store your toilet brush in a container of bleach replace the bleach once a week. Bedrooms 5 1. Always make the bed. Why netbooks are not necessarily obsolete and how to keep them performing well. Hosted by Beeza on 2. Clean and released under a CC BY SA license. Listen in ogg, spx, or mp. Comments 1Beeza uses an Acer Aspire One netbook as a media player principally audio. The audio quality sent from the sound card out through the headphone socket really is excellent, so that when fed into a hi fi amplifier the final reproduction is every bit as good as audio from a CD player possibly better. The netbook is over 5 years old. When it was first bought most Linux distros ran very well on it. Since that time, however, the optimal hardware spec for most distros has increased quite considerably, leaving a humble netbook relatively underpowered, having typically 1 Gb RAM and a sedate CPU. All is not lost, fortunately. Raspbian X8. 6, which is very closely related to the ARM version of Raspbian as used on the Pi, has a very light footprint and delivers performance on a netbook very much like what you would have experienced when they were brand new. Raspbian X8. 6 is not perfect, though. It works brilliantly straight out of the box, but its security model needs a bit of simple reconfiguration to get the best from it. There are also, tweaks and cheats that can improve the Pixel user interface which, in its default setup, may not be to everybodys liking. In this episode Beeza explains steps he has taken to get the best from his netbook and, in the politest way possible, tells you what you can do with yours. POST RECORDING NOTESince recording the show I have installed Pulseaudio on top of Raspbian X8. Its a very simple install using Synaptic or apt get install pulseaudio, after which you can run it as a daemon process with pulseaudio D. The advantage of Pulseaudio is that it gives you greater control over the audio channels and devices than is possible with just the default ALSA sub system. This will be handy if you ever record from streams or USB microphones. If you install Pulseaudio, I strongly recommend installing pavucontrol as well a mixer designed specifically to work with Pulseaudio. Listen Now. Duration 0. Hosted by Brian in Ohio on 2. Clean and released under a CC BY SA license. Listen in ogg, spx, or mp. Comments 21 Brief introduction. Myself. Hi, Im Brian in Ohio. Inspiration for show. I heard Shane Shennan on episode 2. Then I think I heard Ken Fallon wondering about bullet journals on community news for the month with that episode. Flappy Bird Version 1.0 here. So I thought a show was in order explaining how I went from using a bullet journal to using emacs org mode. Parameters. Im not an expert on any of the following topics bullet journal, Getting things done GTD, orgmode or emacs. Im someone who has tried these tools, climbed the learning curve and have some observations to make through that process. Whats a bullet journal. Created by ryder carrol. The analog system for the digital age. Where I found out about ithttps www. What it is. Method of laying out a notebook and using it to organize and process ideas and tasks. I wont try to explain exactly how it is set up. The video tutorial http bulletjournal. You can use any notebook and divide it up into index pages, future log, monthly log and daily log theres a visual indexing tagging system to help organize stuff. Its extremely customizable. How I used it. I bullet journaled for 2 and a half years, initially set it up stock but later put the index at the back. I used it as a daily planner, idea storing device and short term and long term goal setting tool. Strengths. Customizable but within framework, gives a method to get organized that you can tailor to your needs. Its pretty easy to find needed info, if youre diciplined about using. It its battery free. Shortcomings. Need to be disciplined. Can be tedious to enter items in month, daily and index sections. It takes time to set up. I think Shanes use case he mentioned in podcast as sort of a projectidea book sounds pretty cool and might be a really good use case for this system. Hard to edit, this may be a strength for some people, but for me as a daily planner it was a little daunting to use. Adding stuff to something requires either leaving space ahead of time or indexing to a new page. The monthly log was always a mystery to me on how to use it. If you lose it youve lost it, no easy way to back it up. What is org mode. Created by Carsten Dominik. Is an editing and organizing mode for notes, planning, and authoring in the free software text editor Emacs. How I found out about it. Wanted a commandline C development environment for microcontroller project development. IDEWorked with vim a bash shell as a sort of minimal IDE. I specifically was using it on a laptop that didnt have X installed on it. Just for fun, not my bread and butter. Wanted to try something new. Knew about emacs, had tried it didnt like it. Thanks to klaatu for emacs hpr emacs episodes. Thanks to youtube found out about org mode. Rainer Konig getting yourself organized with org modehttps www. UCfb. GTpc. Jy. EOMw. KP e. Yz. 3fg. 3. Switched in october 2. How I use it. At its heart an org mode is an outliner. I use org mode to set up daily todo tasks, organize projects, jot down notes. Org mode has a subsystem call agenda view that can generate daily planner views from your org mode files. I initially tried to mimic the bullet journal in org mode, but found that it was better to approach org mode relying on its strengths, which are different, as you can imagine, from a Bullet journal. Strengths. I like it because its editable, searchable and customizable. Projects can be broken down into as fine a detail as you want and that detail level can expand or contract as necessary. The power of org mode comes out when you use it to capturing ideas, tasks and information. Capturing these events is done via capture templates that you can create. This new data is then saved to the appropriate org file then shows up in your agenda view. Its extremely easy to back up, its text based and therefore future proof. There are many good tutorials and resources online. Software Winzip Gratuito Italiano. Shortcomings. Need to know a little about emacs and that can feel overwhelming to try. This new tool will require you to use your brain. Emacs keybindings. Whats next. Trying to find a good way to use orgmode portably. This has led to trying a couple of different solutions which I will record other hpr episodes about. Thanks for listening. If you have ideas on Bullet Journals or Org mode Id love to hear an episode about it. Ill put links into the show notes, this is Brian in Ohio signing off. Listen Now. Duration 0.
